Continuing the series Inside the Organizer's House...
A well-organized purse starts with a great bag. I am definitely one of those less but better people when it comes to this. I may like inexpensive summer sandals from Target, but I like a nice, structured classic leather handbag. I have been carrying a Modalu London Classic Pippa Grab since late 2011 and it still looks great! The bag has seven different zipper sections (yes, seven), which keep everything compartmentalized and easy to manage. It's also fantastic to travel with because everything zips up completely and things never spill out. I don't have to dig around in my purse because each section has a category and doesn't get overstuffed.
Here's how I structure my bag, plus links to stuff I love if you're interested:
- Large center section: Iope compact, Blotterazzi compact, Altoids, J. Crew sunglasses, keys. Basically, the largest stuff in my purse goes here because this section sits low in the middle of the bag.
- Large front section: monogrammed pouch containing beauty items like my manicure kit, leak-proof hand lotion, dry shampoo, medicine (stored in a contact lens case), eye drops, etc. and another pouch containing tech items like chargers and head phones, wrangled using bobino cord wraps.
- Large main section: iPhone, planner, coupon/receipt holder (similar here), and Hobo wallet. I highly recommend this wallet, which has tons of space and doubles as a clutch. I've carried it since mid-2008 and it's still going strong.
- Mini interior zip pouch: lipstick, lip gloss, concealer.
- Front zip pockets: Junior League name tag and business cards, ready to grab quickly.
- Back zip pocket: pens, sharpies, white-out tape.
